The machining is a semi-complex series of angles as the 1911's receiver tapers in two directions. Keeping the mount rail dead center to the bore axis is is obviously of extreme importance. The method of stabilizing fore and aft and the vertical is also critical. We've applied for the patent so we're covered now.
The rings shown here are purposely too tall.
There is a Diopter and front Tunnel sight planned for this mount. Those will also be patented.
